Every week, while the rest of the world heads to work, I use Mondays to build a life I don’t need a break from. I still work full-time (compressed hours in the NHS), but I’ve made one small shift that’s changed everything:
I claimed Mondays for me.
I call them Future Me Mondays, and they’re my weekly reset — a space to grow my income, protect my energy, and create the future I want.
When I started a new job in 2023, I was burnt out. I knew I needed more space for myself — but I still wanted to earn a full-time wage.
So I compressed my hours into four longer days, giving myself every Monday off.
I chose Monday because it’s when I have the most energy and motivation. It sets the tone for the week. And calling it “Future Me Monday” gave it purpose and power.
Here’s a peek at my routine:
8:00am – Wake naturally (no alarm), have breakfast, and check in on my matched betting
9:00am – Finalise my blog post, send my weekly email, and post to Instagram
11:30am–12:30pm – Personal training session (health = wealth!)
Afternoon – I work on my business: creating content and creating my new side hustle membership
It’s a mix of income-generating tasks and long-term goals — and it leaves me feeling focused and excited for the week ahead.
I’ve learned that motivation comes and goes — but discipline is what keeps things moving.
Some Mondays, I don’t feel like doing much. But I treat it like an appointment with myself. Whether I’m working on my business or doing my PT session, I show up — and I always feel better after.
One thing that’s really helped is keeping track of my results. I’m currently creating a side hustle tracker so you can do the same — it’ll be available soon!
Tiny actions really do add up
Even 30 minutes of focused work can lead to big results over time.

Naming your day gives it power
By calling it “Future Me Monday,” I set the intention every single week.
This is how real freedom is built
Not overnight. Not from a one-off windfall.
But through consistent effort, small wins, and prioritising you.
Here are some questions to ask yourself:
What do you want your week to feel like?
Is there a way to shift your schedule or claim back time for yourself?
What would you do with 1 day a week that’s just for you?
How could you hold yourself accountable to actually use it?
Even if you can’t take a full day off right now, what could a “Future Me Hour” look like for you?
